The Detroit Historical Museum has free admission for the month of July. We have never been but are planning to go. Friends who have gone, give the museum high marks for kids of all ages. Plenty of hands on activities and lots of photo ops.

I'm not quite sure how this works but... We also saw Knowing. I thought it was freaky and another attempt by Hollywood to attack those of us who believe in Special Creation.
